The plaintiff, a 20 year-old semiconductor design and engineering student at Boston University, left her home to commute to school. On that morning, the plaintiff operated her motorcycle east on Freeman Street in Brookline, Massachusetts. At the same time, a car operated by the defendant was traveling west on Freeman Street. As the plaintiff approached the intersection of Freeman Street and Powell Street, the defendant’s car made a sudden left-hand turn directly in front of the plaintiff, violating the plaintiff’s right of way, and collided with the plaintiff. The force of the impact between the car and the motorcycle caused the plaintiff to be thrown from her motorcycle, over the hood of the defendant’s car, and onto the roadway.
The plaintiff’s injuries resulting from the motorcycle accident included a comminuted fracture of her left wrist requiring open reduction with internal fixation, and subsequent ulnar styloid excision and scar revision.
The case was settled following one day of mediation.
