The plaintiff, a 32 year old male, was operating his motorcycle along Route 16 (Washington Street) in Sherborn, Massachusetts when the traffic in front of him began to slow. In response, plaintiff slowed his motorcycle and was almost at a complete stop when he was struck from behind by a sport utility vehicle, operated by the defendant. Upon impact, the plaintiff was thrown forward into the air before falling to the road. The plaintiff was then struck again by the defendant’s car and dragged beneath it.

Car Hits Motorcyclist- Fractured Wrist; $100,000.00
On September 24, 2002, the plaintiff left her home to commute to school. On that morning, the plaintiff operated her motorcycle. At the same time, a car operated by the defendant was traveling west on Freeman Street. As the plaintiff approached the intersection of Freeman Street and Powell Street in Brookline, Massachusetts, the defendant’s car made a sudden left-hand turn directly in front of the plaintiff, violating the plaintiff’s right of way, and collided with the plaintiff. The force of the impact between the two vehicles caused the plaintiff to be thrown from her motorcycle, over the hood of the defendant’s car, and onto the roadway. The plaintiff’s injuries included a comminuted fracture of her left wrist requiring open reduction with internal fixation, and subsequent ulnar styloid excision and scar revision. The case was settled following one day of mediation.
