Medical Injury - Broken Patella

Anyone who has ever struck his or her kneecap or patella against a piece of furniture knows the enormous pain such an injury can illicit. Now imagine the pain suffered when the patella is actually fractured as a result of impact with the ground, or against an automobile dashboard. When such fractures do occur, the treatment options may include surgical wiring of the broken fragments as well as replacement of the entire patella with an artificial component. Both surgeries involve lengthy and painful recuperative periods, as well as significant permanent scarring over the knee.
